A great way to make money with photography is to focus on events. You will be surprised about how many people want events covered and photographed.
How to do it
The key trick is in choosing your market slice. You must choose a slice of the market where people want to keep memories alive in print. It must also be an event that is hard to capture for a not professional so that they will need your services.

When you tell your artist friends that their artwork is good, are you just being polite? Similarly, if your friends tell you your artwork is actually really cool, are they just being nice?
It’s all about psychology. Take it from me, a failed artist whose friends used to pick me up constantly after I produced yet another self-portrait that showed incredible resemblance to a sun-dried tomato, it’s all in the initial reaction and the way it’s said.

Event photography, these days is an appealing career choice. An event photographer is one who attends marriages, sports events, music performances, award functions etc. to take photos of the occasion.
There is a common misconception among people that all an event photographer does is arrive at the venue with a camera and keep clicking away merrily. But this is absolutely false. Many advanced courses are devoted to prepare people to become an event photographer and as with any other highly skilled profession, an event photographer must have some important qualities to be successful at his job.

Occasions like an important symposium or a major client visit come rarely, and it is critical to keep a record of such events in the form of images, which you can later use for both internal and external circulation. To get these photographs, you need event photographers.
Taking professional pictures at an event is a highly specialized skill. Unlike most other forms of photography, the person capturing an occasion hardly has any control over the flow of the event or how the people react. The work involved in shooting an event requires familiarity and professionalism on part of the photographer and very few people can do a good job at it. However, the greatest difficulty is that a corporate photographer does not get a retake.

The wedding couple are the two most important people on a wedding day. To get some excellent portraits, the photographer should seclude the wedding couple from the celebration for a while to capture the intimate moments after the ceremony. This helps the couple to get away from the delight of their wedding as well.
The portrait session will give the photographer enough time to spend with the wedding couple to capture the pictures. But this does not always happen since time is rarely a luxury anyone has; on the actual day. The time taken for pictures can well vary from an hour to no time at all. It can take up to an hour for the photographer to take the pictures.
